Welcome to the "Mail Junk" blog site, where you are free to write what you want.

It's all up to you. In turn, we write what we want, when we want, about whatever.
So enjoy! We look forward to seeing what is on your mind..

This morning i found this on Liberation
HOTEL EVERLAND

THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS.... 4 days until Paris.
We go several times a year for work.... but there is always little space in the schedual to eat in our favorite restaurants:

RESTAURANT PETRELLE
34 rue Petrelle 75009, Paris
tel. 0142821102

Here the chef, Jean Luc, cooks surrounded by his cats and works with artisanal and organic product that comes from small farmers all around france.
The little restaurant has only 6 tables and the philosophy is "slow", so book in advance and bring patience with you. Jean Luc cooks everything himself in a small little kitchen and cooks to order. Just be sure to begin the evening with a great bottle of wine to savour the passing time.

Example Menu:

Plates
Tournedos charolais roti, demi glace

BUT

if you dont have time for all of this.. or you want to take it more easy, just go toour favorite Japanese Canteen:
HIGUMA restaurant japonais (Lamen)
32 bis rue Saint Anne tel. 0147033859

This place is all about mountains of Gyoza (you just cant have enough) cold Japanese beer, and heaps of hand made, freshly cooked lamen noodles in the broth of your choice. You must eat at the bar (on the very chic pink plastic chairs) where you can watch it all being made... and marvel at how these guys use their hands like utensils when working with these boilding hot soups! IF you are looking for a chic, clean and fancy place, just dont go there. BUT you eat amazing food for nothing... a place where you can really let your hair down.

DO YOU HAVE FAVORITE SPOTS IN PARIS?

You have only a few days left (precisely till the 23 of february) to go to london
to the White Cube Gallery in Hoxton Square and see the exhibition of photographs by Darren Almond.

It is really super beautiful!!!!! do not miss it!!!!

Almond’s work often takes him to remote parts of the globe, following conceptual threads that encompass geography, politics, history and his own biography. This exhibition will include two distinct bodies of work: Fullmoon photographs that incorporate new images and key earlier images from around the British Isles and new large-scale photographs taken in Tibet.

Almond has been making his Fullmoon photographs since 1998, when a chance encounter led him to start practicing night photography, using moonlight and an extremely long exposure. The result is an ongoing series of landscape photographs that are bathed in an eerie brightness, seemingly transforming night into day, an effect that Brian Dillon describes in his catalogue essay as “a kind of fog of knowing and unknowing, revealing and concealing”. In Almond’s photographs, waterfalls and gushing lakes become pools of static steam (Fullmoon@High Force in Shadow and Fullmoon@Tees River) and a pounding sea is calmed into a thick, solid fog (Fullmoon@Malin Head and Fullmoon@Point). In others, such as Fullmoon@Gairloch or Fullmoon@Wester Ross, Almond presents us with the mossy, ferny landscapes of bygone British folklore. Always unpopulated, his landscapes suggest the possibility of another existence, a dead-of-night world without the seething masses of humanity.

With the title of the exhibition, ‘Moons of the Iapetus Ocean’, Almond highlights his interest in the sea that existed between England and Scotland between 400-600 million years ago. Examining this landscape, as well as other fringe locations, such as the remote coasts of Ireland and southern England, he reminds us of the temporality of historical geography as well as our own individual isolation and insignificance within the larger geological scheme of things.

This morning, on Liberation, Robert Maggiori writes about the Pope.........

My God!

I'm just back from an exausting day in the fashion world of paris....and i found this on the New York Times.I like to share it with you all because i would really like to read something on your side that if does not sound serious or intelligent at least would sound exciting or interesting

Fouad Mourtada, a 26-year-old engineer, was sentenced by a Casablanca court to three years in prison for creating a fake profile of the king’s brother on Facebook, the Internet social networking site, the official news agency MAP reported. He was accused of “villainous practices” and of stealing the identity of the crown prince, Moulay Rachid. The case has ignited the Moroccan blogosphere, which used it as a prime example of deteriorating freedom of expression in the North African kingdom. Hundreds of prank profiles exist on Facebook, for everyone from President Bush to Osama bin Laden. At least four fake Moulay Rachid Facebook pages have now been set up, apparently from the safety of overseas. The defense said it would appeal the sentence, MAP reported. MAP announced at the time of Mr. Mourtada’s arrest that no Moroccan royals maintained Web sites or blogs.

I never watch american TV,but now that I am on travel I have access to CNN, an american channel.
I am amazed by the fact that the presidential campaign is about who is going to be the "Comander in Cheif".
I would like to ask the question, what has happened to America???
What has happened to the phyche of these people that to run a country is more about having a military leader who will continue the fight
against "Evil Doer's" above anything else.
I do believe, that at one point in time, many years ago, America used to mean something. Used to represent something authentic and meaningful.
Now all I see are a bunch of easily manipulate, fear possesed people that have created a warped sense of reality for themselves that justifies
blowing up other countries, interrogating and intimidating.. all in the name of "freedom"??
Isnt "Freedom" the american's new modern day "GOD"
Fighting in the name of freedom.... against the people that are fighting in the name of God...
is it not all the same thing???

Following portions of the articles published today by Liberation and the New York Times about the President Bush's veto of bill on CIA interrogation method using torture.

LIBERATION.FR : samedi 8 mars 2008

"....Mr. Bush vetoed a bill that would have explicitly prohibited the agency from using interrogation methods like waterboarding, a technique in which restrained prisoners are threatened with drowning and that has been the subject of intense criticism at home and abroad. Many such techniques are prohibited by the military and law enforcement agencies.

..............

Mr. Bush announced the veto in the usual format of his weekly radio address, which is distributed to stations across the country each Saturday. He unflinchingly defended an interrogation program that has prompted critics to accuse him not only of authorizing torture previously but also of refusing to ban it in the future. “Because the danger remains, we need to ensure our intelligence officials have all the tools they need to stop the terrorists,” he said.Mr. Bush’s veto — the ninth of his presidency, but the eighth in the past 10 months with Democrats in control of Congress — underscored his determination to preserve many of the executive prerogatives his administration has claimed in the name of fighting terrorism, and to enshrine them into law.Mr. Bush is fighting with Congress over the expansion of powers under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and over the depth of the American security commitments to Iraq once the United Nations mandate for international forces there expires at the end of the year.

.............

“The fact that we have not been attacked over the past six and a half years is not a matter of chance,” Mr. Bush said in his radio remarks, echoing comments he made Thursday at a ceremony marking the fifth anniversary of the creation of the Department of Homeland Security. “We have no higher responsibility than stopping terrorist attacks,” he added. “And this is no time for Congress to abandon practices that have a proven track record of keeping America safe.”

The bill Mr. Bush vetoed would have limited all American interrogators to techniques allowed in the Army field manual on interrogation, which prohibits physical force against prisoners.

The debate has left the C.I.A. at odds with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other agencies, whose officials have testified that harsh interrogation methods are either unnecessary or counterproductive.

“This president had the chance to end the torture debate for good,” one of its sponsors, Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, said in a statement on Friday when it became clear that Mr. Bush intended to carry out his veto threat. “Yet, he chose instead to leave the door open to use torture in the future. The United States is not well served by this.”

“He has rejected the Army field manual’s recognition that such horrific tactics elicit unreliable information, put U.S. troops at risk and undermine our counterinsurgency efforts,” Mr. Reid said in a statement. Democrats vowed to raise the matter again.

Senator John D. Rockefeller IV of West Virginia, the chairman of the Intelligence Committee, disputed that assertion on Saturday. “As chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, I have heard nothing to suggest that information obtained from enhanced interrogation techniques has prevented an imminent terrorist attack,” he said in a statement.

Representative Bill Delahunt, a Democrat from Massachusetts, has been holding hearings on the administration’s negotiations with Iraq over the legal status of American troops in Iraq beyond Mr. Bush’s presidency. He said the administration had rebuffed demands to bring any agreement to Congress for approval, and had largely succeeded.

“They’re excellent at manipulating the arguments so that if Congress should assert itself, members expose themselves to charges of being soft, not tough enough on terrorism,” he said. “My view is history is going to judge us all.”

"Poesia interrotta"

Alle diciassette e zerosei ti adoravo;
alle diciassette e zeronove mi sentivo addirittura
amato da te.
Ma perché.
Non mi piaci eccessivamente, anche se sei
bellissima.
Forse perché è l'amore è bello, in sé, è
di stare accanto a te;
e sarebbe bello dimenticare tutto e amarti,
perché l'amore è bello e tu sei l'amore.

Dialogo tra due innamorati

Ti amo? - mormorò la fanciulla.
Mi ami.
La fanciulla si strinse a lui.
Sai, a volte ho tanta paura. Ho tanta paura. Immagino che non ti amo più.
Sciocchina. Mi ami. Mi adori.
Davvero ti adoro?
Sì. Mi adori con tutte le tue forze.
Grazie. Tu mi dai tanta sicurezza.

Now I will explain to you why I am with Obama, the black man.
I have not been interested in Italian politics since a long time.
Frankly, I don't follow it at all.
In Italian politics, there is no hope.
No hope for a better future, in the short term nor the long term.
In this pre election period,
in which even he who does not want to watch,
is obliged to see the posters that are everywhere,
advertising this or that parties...
It is always the same faces,
the same slogans, surrounded by very tacky graphics.
The total loss of confidence, at least in my case,
is transformed into a sensation of disgust.
If those posters are somehow the mirror of the moral,
civilization and intelligence of this country
I agree with who was writing in the other window of this blog,
(....Italy has no future...)
The question that I ask myself is,
if these people, these faces, are not representing italy,
why are italians continuously voting for them.

But if italy has no future...... the world of which Italy is part,
MAYBE does have a future.
And a big part of this future will be determined
by the results of the next US election.

The choices are, a Woman, a Vietnam Veteran, and the Black man.

The Woman.
She has two big defaults.
The first is that her name is Clinton,
and I don't think that it is positive for the world
a transition from one dynasty (Bush) to that of another.
(The last three presidents have been wither Bush or Clinton families)
The second is that the fact
that she talks continuously about having the experience
to be the best "Commander in Cheif",
well it scares me a little bit.
And we could also add that she is a woman seeking to
"save face" after the famous sexual incidents with her husband while being president.

The Veteran.
I simply don't believe to be a veteran
of the biggest disaster in American history
is a quality to show off with so much enthusiasm.
I ask myself the following;
On top of being an ex soldier, being sponsored by the Bush clan, and being married to a young blond woman,
what real capacity does this man have to run the United States?

The Black Man.
The Woman and The Veteran say that Obama does not have experience
and that consequently he cannot be a good "Commander in Cheif",
or leader of the country.
This to my eyes is already not a default
but a great credential if we hope to have a better world.......
Then I like the dark colour of his skin,
because it is new and maybe is the colour of real hope.

So we will see what happens...............

Saadi Youssef is one of the most important Arab Poets.

He wrote the following poem in Damascus the 20 August 1995

America, America

God save America
My home sweet home!

The French general who raised his tricolour
over Nagrat al-Salman where I was a prisoner thirty years ago . . .
in the middle of that U-turn
that split the back of the Iraqi army,
the general who loved St Emilion wines
called Nagrat al-Salman a fort . . .
Of the surface of the earth, generals know only two dimensions:
whatever rises is a fort
whatever spreads is a battlefield.
How ignorant the general was!
But Liberation was better versed in topography.
The Iraqi boy who conquered her front page
sat carbonised behind a steering wheel
on the Kuwait--Safwan highway
while television cameras
(the booty of the defeated and their identity)
were safe in the truck like a storefront
on rue Rivoli.
The neutron bomb is highly intelligent,
it distinguishes between
an ìIî and an ìIdentityî.

God save America
My home sweet home!

Blues

How long must I walk to Sacramento
How long will I walk to reach my home
How long will I walk to reach my girl
How long must I walk to Sacramento
For two days, no boat has sailed this stream
two days, two days, two days
Honey, how can I ride?
I know this stream
but, O but, O but, for two days
no boat has sailed this stream

La L La La L La
La L La La L La
A stranger gets scared
Don't fear dear horse
Don't fear the wolves of the wild
Don't fear for the land is my land
La L La La L La
La L La La L La
A stranger gets scared

God save America
My home sweet home!

I too love jeans and jazz and Treasure Island
and Long John Silver's parrot and the terraces of New Orleans
I love Mark Twain and the Mississippi steamboats and Abraham Lincoln's dogs
I love the fields of wheat and corn and the smell of Virginia tobacco.
But I am not American. Is that enough for the Phantom pilot to turn me back to the Stone Age!
I need neither oil, nor America herself, neither the elephant nor the donkey.
Leave me, pilot, leave my house roofed with palm fronds and this wooden bridge.
I need neither your Golden Gate nor your skyscrapers.
I need the village not New York.
Why did you come to me from your Nevada desert, soldier armed to the teeth?
Why did you come all the way to distant Basra where fish used to swim by our doorsteps.
Pigs do not forage here. I only have these water buffaloes lazily chewing on water lilies.
Leave me alone soldier.
Leave me my floating cane hut and my fishing spear.
Leave me my migrating birds and the green plumes.
Take your roaring iron birds and your Tomahawk missiles. I am not your foe.
I am the one who wades up to the knees in rice paddies.
Leave me to my curse.
I do not need your day of doom.

God save America
My home sweet home!

America
let us exchange your gifts.
Take your smuggled cigarettes
and give us potatoes.
Take James Bond's golden pistol
and give us Marilyn Monroe's giggle.
Take the heroin syringe under the tree
and give us vaccines.
Take your blueprints for model penitentiaries
and give us village homes.
Take the books of your missionaries
and give us paper for poems to defame you.
Take what you do not have
and give us what we have.
Take the stripes of your flag
and give us the stars.

Take the Afghani Mujahideen's beard
and give us Walt Whitman's beard filled with butterflies.
Take Saddam Hussain
and give us Abraham Lincoln
or give us no one.

Now as I look across the balcony
across the summer sky, the summery summer
Damascus spins, dizzied among television aerials
then it sinks, deeply, in the stories of the forts
and towers
and the arabesques of ivory
and sinks, deeply, from Rukn al-Din
then disappears from the balcony.

And now
I remember trees:
the date palm of our mosque in Basra, at the end of Basra
the bird's beak
and a child's secret
a summer feast.
I remember the date palm.
I touch it. I become it, when it falls black without fronds
when a dam fell hewn by lightning.
And I remember the mighty mulberry
when it rumbled, butchered with an axe . . .
to fill the stream with leaves
and birds
and angels
and green blood.
I remember when pomegranate blossoms covered the sidewalks,
the students were leading the workers' parade . . .

The trees die
pummelled
dizzied,
not standing
the trees die.

God save America
My home sweet home!

We are not hostages, America
and your soldiers are not God's soldiers . . .
We are the poor ones, ours is the earth of the drowned gods
the gods of bulls
the gods of fires
the gods of sorrows that intertwine clay and blood in a song . . .
We are the poor, ours is the god of the poor
who emerges out of the farmers' ribs
hungry
and bright
and raises heads up high . . .
America, we are the dead
Let your soldiers come
Whoever kills a man, let him resurrect him
We are the drowned ones, dear lady

We are the drowned
Let the water come

In the next Olympic Games there will be a new sport especially introduced by the Chinese and is supported by all of the international sport's associations and federations.

It is a sport that the chinese practice since 1958 with a lot of fun

and now they are thinking to export worldwide.

The translation from the chinese of this sport is "CLUBTHEMONK" and works like this:

You need a team of player without a fix number, more players you have in your team better it is.

The members of your team need a uniform that must be green accompanied by a green hat with a red star.

The other team is formed by 1 Tibetan Monk, you recognize him because is dressed in orange, has no hair and in general has a friendly smile on his face.

When your team has found the other team/the tibetan monk,

the game can begin.

Your team CLUB THE TIBETAN MONK AS HARD AS POSSIBLE:

The monk do not need to die because in the most truly olympic spirit, as De Coubertin was sayng, the important thing is not to win but to participate in the game.

The chinese national team of "CLUBTHEMONK" is currently undergoing daily training in the region of Tibet and you can watch some of their traning session on youtube.

Enjoy.

This morning reading the International Herald Tribune, i found this interesting, at least for me, article on the italian food By Ian Fisher

"Last month, Gambero Rosso, the prestigious reviewer of restaurants and wine, sought out Rome's best carbonara, a dish of pasta, eggs, pecorino cheese and guanciale (which is cured pig cheek; pancetta, for aficionados, is not done) that defines tradition here.In second place was L'Arcangelo, a restaurant with an Indian head chef. The winner: Antico Forno Roscioli, a bakery and innovative restaurant whose chef, Nabil Hadj Hassen, arrived from Tunisia at 17 and washed dishes for a year and a half before he cooked his first pot of pasta.

With Italians increasingly shunning sweaty and underpaid kitchen work, it can be hard now to find a restaurant where at least one foreigner does not wash dishes, help in the kitchen or, as is often the case, actually cook. Egyptians have done well as pizza makers, but restaurant kitchens are now a snapshot of Italy's relatively recent immigrant experience, with Moroccans, Tunisians, Romanians and Bangladeshis all doing the work.
(...)
Most Italian food is defined by its good ingredients and simple preparation, but does it become less distinct - or less Italian - if anyone can prepare it to restaurant standards? Does that come at some cost to national pride? In a debate likely to grow in the coming years, some argue that foreign chefs can mimic Italian food but not really understand it.
(...)
Twelve years ago, Abu Markhyyeh, a young Jordanian, finished an apprenticeship with a Neapolitan pizza maker, borrowed money from his Italian mother-in-law, then opened his own pizzeria in Milan, Da Willy, after his nickname here.He did well, in part because he made the pizzas bigger but kept the prices low. Now Markhyyeh, 41, presides over an untraditional pizza empire. He has 11 restaurants in Milan, four in Jordan, two in Cyprus and franchises in Dubai; Beirut; Sharm el Sheik, Egypt; and now in Shanghai.Despite this success - and thousands of loyal Italian customers - he said he never felt fully accepted. "Italians say they aren't racist, but then they say to me that in Milan I have found America," he said, referring to a slightly insulting expression for finding success without really working for it. "It makes me feel lousy."Qunfeng Zhu, 30, a Chinese immigrant who opened a coffee bar in Rome's center, has had a similar experience even though he makes an authentic espresso in a classic Italian atmosphere (overlooking a few bottles of Chinese liquor)."Some people come in, see we are Chinese and go away," he said.
(...)
Pierluigi Roscioli, a member of the family that runs the restaurant that won the best-carbonara award, said there was a risk that tradition would slowly erode if Italian chefs did note oversee those foreign ones who have had less training."Without supervision, they tend to drift toward what is in their DNA," Roscioli said. "When it's by choice, it's great, but not when it happens because someone isn't paying attention."
(...)
Its executive manager, Andrea Sinigaglia, said it was possible that Italian restaurants would soon divide into two camps, with elite restaurants staffed by Italian chefs and trattorias and restaurants aimed more at tourists run by foreign chefs. But with Italy changing, he said, its food will inevitably change, too, though his school is partly aimed at keeping the basics - local products, fresh ingredients, simplicity in preparation - intact."We cannot defend a recipe," he said. "We cannot stop progress. We can indicate, pinpoint, what are the real important things. And the rest is creativity."

My italian-californian friend Ron told me to go and see the "Story of Stuff" movie.

If you haven’t seen The Story of Stuff with Annie Leonard, here is the address:

www.storyofstuff.com

and worth a view one time:

(What is the Story of Stuff?

From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.)

Dear friend why you do that????????????????????

Of course you can keep doing it, but at least explain us why and what that means.

Have a nice day.

24.04.08

Ninety three years ago, in that 24th of April 1915 the extermination or better said genocide of 1.5 millions of Armenians began.

I think that is a good thing to remember it because this is one of those thing that risk to be forgotten.

Some suggestions seek to invalidate the genocide on semantic or anachronistic grounds (the word "genocide" was not coined until 1943).

The Turkish government continues to protest the formal recognition of the genocide by other countries, and to dispute that there ever was a genocide...........................

The "Mail Junk Blog" continues ...

To make a complicated story very simple, this blog was suddenly hijacked and knocked out of service on May, 2008 for the period of a month.
Now we have solved the problems and we have decided to keep it going.

Have fun

Grazie a tutti e buon divertimento.

So to get the Blog started again i publish today a great Max Frisch novel: "Man in the Holocene".The New Yorker and the New York Times named it the most important novel of 1980.

I found it on the Dennis Cooper blog that i thank for publishing it.

Enjoy!

The Story

'The aged Mr. Geiser is bored in his Tessin house during torrential rains. He is so bored that he tries to make a pagoda out of crispbread and categorizes thunders (into rolling thunders, banging thunders, etc.). Rumors report a landslide, and that the valley is cut off. Fearing a total mountain slide that would bury the village and man’s knowledge, Geiser reads his encyclopedia, the Bible, history books, and cuts out/transcribes important information for posterity. He attaches the notes to the walls of the house. Despite the weather, he wanders around. But, while wandering, he feels his physical limits, and the limited importance of man’s knowledge too. Geiser slowly loses his memory. The question arises: is memory needed or not -- "the rocks do not need my memory". Towards the end, Geiser suffers a cerebral apoplexiy that attacks his memory. Now it turns out that the fear of a mountain slide was the fear of cerebral apoplexiy; fearing the loss of man’s knowledge was fearing loss of his own memory. That is the parabolic aspect.' -- Wikipedia

The Excerpt

It should be possible to build a pagoda of crispbread, to think of nothing, to hear no thunder, no rain, no splashing from the gutter, no gurgling around the house. Perhaps no pagoda will emerge, but the night will pass.

Somewhere a tapping on metal.

It is always with the fourth floor that the wobbling begins; a trembling hand as the next piece of crispbread is put in place, a cough when the gable is already standing, and the whole thing lies in ruins—

Geiser has time to spare.

The news in the village is conflicting; some people say there has been no landslide at all, others that an old supporting wall has collapsed, and there is no way of diverting the highway at that spot. The woman in the post office, who ought to know, merely confirms that the mail bus is not running, but she stands behind the little counter in her usual care-laden fashion, keeping usual office hours, selling stamps, and even accepting parcels, which she places unhurriedly on the scales and then franks. It is taken for granted that state and canton are doing everything in their power to get the highway back in order. If necessary, helicopters can be brought in, unless there is fog. Nobody in the village thinks that the day, or perhaps the night, will come when the whole mountain could begin to slide, burying the village for all time.

Somewhere a tapping on metal.

It is midnight, but still no pagoda.

It started on the Thursday of the previous week, when it was still possible to sit out in the open; the weather was sultry, as always before a thunderstorm, the gnats biting through one's socks; no summer lightning, it just felt uncomfortable. Not a bird in the grounds. His guests, a youngish couple on their way to Italy, suddenly decided to leave, though they could have spent the night in his house. It was not actually cloudy—just a yellowish haze, such as one sees in the Arabian desert before a sandstorm; no wind. Faces also looking yellowish. His guests did not even empty their glasses, they were suddenly in such a hurry to be off, though there were no sounds of thunder. Not a drop of rain, either. But on the following morning it was drumming on the windowpanes, hissing through the leaves of the chestnut tree.

Since then, not a night without thunderstorms and cloudbursts.

From time to time the power is cut, something one is used to in this valley; hardly has there been time to find a candle, and then at last some matches, when the power is restored, lights in the house, though the thunder continues.

It is not so much the bad weather—

The twelve-volume encyclopedia Der Grosse Brockhaus explains what causes lightning and distinguishes streak lightning, ball lightning, bead lightning, etc., but there is little to be learned about thunder; yet in the course of a single night, unable to sleep, one can distinguish at least nine types of thunder:

1.
The simple thunder crack.

2.
Stuttering or tottering thunder: this usually comes after a lengthy silence, spreads across the whole valley, and can go on for minutes on end.

3.
Echo thunder: shrill as a hammer striking on loose metal and setting up a whirring, fluttering echo which is louder than the peal itself.

4.
Roll or bump thunder: relatively unfrightening, for it is reminiscent of rolling barrels bumping against one another.

5.
Drum thunder.

6.
Hissing or gravel thunder: this begins with a hiss, like a truck tipping a load of wet gravel, and ends with a thud.

7.
Bowling-pin thunder: like a bowling pin that, struck by the rolling ball, cannons into the other pins and knocks them all down; this causes a confused echo throughout the valley.

8.
Hesitant or tittering thunder (no flash of lightning through the windows): this indicates that the storm is retreating over the mountains.

9.
Blast thunder (immediately following a flash of lightning through the windows): this is not like two hard masses colliding; on the contrary, it is like a single huge mass being blasted apart and falling to either side, breaking into countless pieces; in its wake, rain comes pouring down.

At intervals the power goes off again.

What would be bad would be losing one's memory—

An example of something Geiser has not forgotten: the Pythagorean theorem. For that he does not need to drag out the encyclopedia. On the other hand, he cannot remember how to draw the golden section (A is to B as A + B to A; that he does still know) with compasses and set square. He knew once, of course—

No knowledge without memory.

Today is Tuesday.

Still no horns sounding in the valley.

Field glasses are no use at all in times like these, one screws them this way and that without being able to find any sharp outline to bring into focus; all they do is make the mist thicker. What can be seen with the naked eye: the gutter on the roof, the nearest pine tree in the grounds, two wires disappearing into the mist, raindrops gliding slowly down the wires. If one takes an umbrella and trudges through the grounds on a tour of inspection despite wet and mist, one can no longer see one's own house after only a hundred paces, just brambles in mist, rivulets, bracken in mist. A little wall in the lower garden (drystone) has collapsed: debris among the lettuces, lumps of clay under the tomatoes. Perhaps that happened days ago.

Still, one can get tomatoes in cans.

Lavender flowering in the mist: scentless, as in a color film. One wonders what bees do in a summer like this.

There are provisions enough in the house:

three eggs
bouillon cubes
tea
vinegar and olive oil
flour
onions
a jar of pickled gherkins
Parmesan cheese
sardines, one can
spices of all kinds
crispbread, five packages
garlic
raspberry syrup for the grandchildren
anchovies
bay leaves
semolina
salted almonds
spaghetti, one package
olives
Ovomaltine
one lemon
meat in the icebox

Later in the day there is more thunder; and shortly afterward, hail. The white stones, some of them the size of hazelnuts, dance on the granite table; in a few minutes the lawn is a white sheet, all Geiser can do is stand at the window and watch the vine being torn to shreds, the roses—

There is nothing to do but read.

(Novels are no use at all on days like these, they deal with people and their relationships, with themselves and others, fathers and mothers and daughters or sons, lovers, etc., with individual souls, usually unhappy ones, with society, etc., as if the place for these things were assured, the earth for all time earth, the sea level fixed for all time.)

No horns sounding in the valley.

What would be bad is losing one’s memory---

There is nothing to do but read.

Today is Wednesday, (Or Thursday?)

Weakness of memory is the deterioration of the faculty of recalling earlier experiences. In psychopathology a distinction is made between this and deterioration of the faculty of adding new experiences to the store of memories, though the distinction is only one of degree. In the brain diseases of old age (senility, hardening of the arteries in the brain) and other brain diseases, it is the latter faculty that deteriorates first.

At the moment he does not need his passport, but he could do with an aspirin for his headache, which is not raging, just irritating, and it would also be a good time to clean out his medicine chest, to throw away all the things of which he no longer knows the use: whether for itching or for acid in the urine, for heart troubles or for constipation, for gnat bites or for sunburn, etc.

The headache is gradually fading.

He cannot resist looking at his watch again; it reads seven minutes past six.

This evening will also pass.

He has plenty of time.

Ten years ago and in sunshine, it had been just a pleasant walk, an outing of two and a half hours there and back.

Nobody will ever hear of his outing.

--man emerged in the Holocene.

Geiser wants no visitors.

Geiser knows the year of his birth and the first names of his parents, also his mother’s maiden name, and the name of the street in which he was born, the number of the house—

That was seventy years ago.

Nature needs no names. Geiser knows that. The rocks do not need his memory.

Apoplexy, known popularly as a stroke, is a sudden loss of brain function, combined usually with paralysis and loss of consciousness, and often accompanied by loss of speech. The usual cause is the bursting of a cerebral blood vessel due to arteriosclerosis or hypertension, and the extent of the hemorrhage may be slight, or located in parts of the brain where its presence gives rise to little disturbance. Unless the vital areas of the base of the brain have been affected, in which case, death is likely to occur within a short period, a fair measure of recovery is possible. Another cause of the loss of brain function is the blocking of a cerebral blood vessel, preventing blood from reaching the brain. The paralysis usually affects only one side of the body. The paralyzed limbs are at first slack and immobile, but eventually they pass into a spastic stage.

HUMANS ARE SOMETIMES VERY INTELLIGENT BUT MORE OFTEN VERY STUPID.............

I was beginning to think that americans lost their roots completely. Today i realize that i was wrong.

Thanks to all of you for giving the chance to Obama to change the US and help to build a better world.

Today the rain stopped and the sun is shining, it can sound retorical but it is true.

Dear Mr. Prime Minister of Italy can you explain why you do not understand that when you open the mouth to say things that are not only stupid but insulting the human intelligence, you are perceived as "Italy"?

Can't you make an effort to think of the consequences of your words, not only on you but on all the italians and the italian credibility around the globe?

In a moment of great joy for the all world you have been the only one around the planet tring to be funny but that sounded like an idiot!

I travel a lot so when i'll be abroad i will know the reason why people will look at me strange.

Thanks Mr. Prime Minister.

Q. – Now a further question from a French speaker: our colleague Philippe Visseyrias from France 2:

Q. – Your Holiness, among the many ills that beset Africa, one of the most pressing is the spread of Aids. The position of the Catholic Church on the way to fight it is often considered unrealistic and ineffective. Will you address this theme during the journey? Holy Father, would you be able to respond in French to this question?

A. – I would say the opposite. I think that the most efficient, most truly present player in the fight against Aids is the Catholic Church herself, with her movements and her various organizations. I think of the Sant’Egidio community that does so much, visibly and also behind the scenes, in the struggle against Aids, I think of the Camillians, and so much more besides, I think of all the Sisters who take care of the sick. I would say that this problem of Aids cannot be overcome merely with money, necessary though it is. If there is no human dimension, if Africans do not help [by responsible behaviour], the problem cannot be overcome by the distribution of prophylactics: on the contrary, they increase it. The solution must have two elements: firstly, bringing out the human dimension of sexuality, that is to say a spiritual and human renewal that would bring with it a new way of behaving towards others, and secondly, true friendship offered above all to those who are suffering, a willingness to make sacrifices and to practise self-denial, to be alongside the suffering. And so these are the factors that help and that lead to real progress: our twofold effort to renew humanity inwardly, to give spiritual and human strength for proper conduct towards our bodies and those of others, and this capacity to suffer with those who are suffering, to remain present in situations of trial. It seems to me that this is the proper response, and the Church does this, thereby offering an enormous and important contribution. We thank all who do so.

E a me torna quel terribile pensiero.

what is with all of the italian food in italy? I know it sounds like a stupid question... but I have been living in italy (tuscany) for two years, and god what I would give just to taste some indian, or some great thai food. Sure, sure.. i'm not in india or thailand... nor japan... and i am also not in milan, where there is a little more variety... but isn't anyone out there craving something other than pasta pomodoro? There is the argument that by not having these other choices it actually preserves the authentisity of the food here... but isn't there also something to say about having an international perspective about food? Can't you try fusing italian with something else? My palette needs options!! It needs evolution and surprise!!!!!! Am i the only one out there in Italy starving for something!???

My boyfriend calls every black person a nigger... but he claims he isnt racist. what's with that?

There are lot's of thing going on in the world that I should care about. Climate change, the crap political situation in italy, the japanesse chopping up whales (when they say it's all about research, what they mean is it is research in perfecting the art of sushi), nuclear weapons programs (including fake ones).... but the only thing that is super hot in the politics now comes down to two words... SARKOZY.... and CARLA.... Nicolas Sarkozy isn't that cute, but Carla Bruni is totally hot.... CHE TOPALONA!.... I give Sarkozy two thumbs up for getting himself a sweet piece of italy!.

i have a neighbour from senegal i call him 'homme noir, he calls me the "pale man" and we laugh together about it..... i do not care if your boyfriend calls africans "niggers" and i do not care about about politycally correct bullshit.....the point is : 1.if your boyfriend and the nigger they laugh together it means that they both have a great sense of humour and probably your boyfriend knows africas better than you think 2.if the black man shoot your boyfriend .....this can happen, means that the tone of voice of your boyfriend was'nt so funny... 3.if the black man look down when called "nigger" than is a "nigger"

O no, tu che ne pensi?

i'm tired, i'm destroyed, i'm cotta, and for me they should make ciuccios for adults good night..........

09.02.08 On a day of spring When the sun shines calmly, Why do the cherry blossoms fall Without having a calm heart. When next spring comes, It will be my family's turn To have their pictures taken In front of the cherry tree Where I had my pictures taken. The swallows are still young Waiting for their mother To fetch some food. But their mother was dead On her way back. When a day is breaking, Mist hanging over the Uji River Is clearing off. Begin to appear one by one From close ones to the ones in the distance. Stakes to support fences to catch fish Swish, swoosh, Into waves Drawing near and retreating, We dive Throwing ourselves. The summer grasses---- brave soldiers' dreams, I'm not interested in them.

All through the times, There have been mountains of bones Sunflowers Scolded me “Don’t look down!” I’ll do my best today. The summer is about to end A small fire work is going out Somehow it resembles my loneliness I feel very lonely At the end of the summer in the cool air The insects are singing loudly in chorus Under the starry sky. The summer vacation ends And a fight starts. The enemy's name is An alarm clock The setting sun Shines out against the autumn sky And a crow sings, "Caw, caw." The crow tells us To return home early. The grass is wet with white dews. Wind is blowing incessantly in the fall field. The wind scattered the white dews. They look like the beads Which are not tied and are scattered All over the field Deep in the mountains, Stepping on the maple leaves, A crying deer. When I hear the deer, Fall seems sad. The white snow Is falling and piling up Over the village of Yoshino It is as bright as The white moon before dawn. I say, “It’s cold, isn’t it?” You say, “It’s cold, isn’t it?” Our talk warms us. The color of flowers Has changed uselessly. They were like myself. I also have changed While I was worrying About many things. If you live long, You will yearn for now. I yearn for the world That I once thought Was painful. Go round and round, the Ferris wheel! This is only a memory on one day for you But I am sure to remember it in my lifetime. If my soul can die out, Die out. If I survive any longer, My power to control my love Might become weaker And I won’t be able to hide it In my heart. Then my love will be known To somebody. Because I slept, Missing you, Did you come out In my dream? If I had known it was a dream, I would not have waken up. I miss you so much That I could say to you "I want to see you." It was a great joy to me. I compare my love Before I saw you and after. I don't think I had loved you so much before. "I won't forget you forever." I can't expect you to keep this feeling So on this happy day,

When I heard these words. I want to die. I’m absorbed in the thought of you At midnight every day. Because you will not accept my love, The night looks All the more dark. You said, “This tastes good.” So July 6th is Our Salad Anniversary. What can silver, gold, or jewel beads be for? No treasures can be compared With children. Children surpass all the treasures. I think salmon tastes most delicious With its skin. When I eat it for breakfast, I feel I'm a Japanese. Looking at the future, Looking for happiness, I'll live on Without giving way to my weak self, Run through.

i dont really understand a lot these poems.. but i like them. They all feel a little melancholic however... i like poems.... you dont see them much anymore. in toronto they published poems inside the bus.. so when you were on your way to your crap job, you could read them ... made me feel better about going to work that day. poems make the planet better...... or at least the people on it..

hello there

[Maurizio Cattelan]

DREAM 001 it is dark, im in a park. there is a man behind me, his face is in shadow. I dont se him well, just the subtle outline of his face, but he feels creepy. He talks to me... talks about nothing.. the weather and things like that. I am uncomfortable and am in the parc originally to exersize. I adjust myself to get ready to run, he watches lustfully. I dont trust this guy. I want to run away from him, but somethign tells me that things will get worse if I do. Eventually I have the courage to make a go at it.. I take off. He follows me on a bike, with a perverted smile. I run faster up the hill. He pedles faster. He is chasing me now. I dont stop because he doesnt stop. I run up a hill.. there is moonlight that highlights all of the long moist grasses... and there are small homeless domestic cats playing around me. I continue to run in the direction of the moon, with the clanging metal of the bicycle being ridden behind me.

I am re-branding a school at the moment. I go over and present the work they ask me to do. They love it. They smile and say "yes" a lot. I leave feeling happy and motivated. So I do lots of work for them, I enjoy doing it, so I work hard at it. Then I go to university later on in the week. I show my work there and all I get is an expressionless tutor with suggestions that divert my work into an area I don't feel comfortable with or even like. So I leave feeling like shit. I go home and I leave all my university work until the very last minute because I feel incompetent. I hate university, but I love graphic design.

it's fun...

The tree has entered my hands, The sap has ascended my arms, The tree has grown in my breast- Downward, The branches grow out of me, like arms. Tree you are, Moss you are, You are violets with wind above them. A child - so high - you are, And all this is folly to the world. (Ezra Pound - A Girl)

I love Paris and I love a man that live in Paris. I want live in Paris..........answer me

Next time I'm near a river of significant girth, I hope to see a battle between two pirate ships. Cannons and swords only. That'd make my day. But a freshwater whale eating tug boat would suffice.

I wanna know what the hell everyone is talking about. Love the fact that everyone speaks their mind and all, but I cant make sense out of any of it.... and for the one that is in love with a man in paris.... beware... Very dangerous genre of men!!!

PERCHE' STASERA NON VAI A TEATRO? WHY DON'T YOU GO TO THEATER TONIGHT? PARCE QUE TU NE VAIS PAS AU THEATRE CE SOIR? CIAO FR

Simply because He promised to come soon, I have waited through The long Ninth Month night To see the early-morning moon appear.

Spring has passed, it seems, And now summer has arrived; For this, they say, is when Robes of pure white are aired On heavenly Mount Kagu.

As I venture out Onto the shore at Tago Bay, I see snow, pure white, Falling now ever deeper On Mount Fuji's lofty peak.

Deep in the mountains, Striding through red, fallen leaves, A stag calls for a mate; And hearing its plaintive cry, I am struck by autumn's sadness.

Good day! So I decided to use the chance to get to know you better. Hope, I will be lucky now. The most important for me what is inside of you and how do you feel about the life. I know this life from many sides and I am rather mature already to know how to make a man happy. Life is too short to use it only for thinking and dreaming. I try to act but not only to dream. I will not write you much about myself now. I will just give you an idea of who I am. My name is Anya I live in Russia. I'm 27 years old. I want to meet serious man who would like to have strong and loving family in the future. I have never been married, and I have not boy friend at this stage of my life. I work to earn for my liivng. I have a higher education and I am rather intelligent. The only one I miss is a beloved person and I want to have a family. I have really many interests: music, reading, books, computers, movies, good conversations, sports and many other things which make the life wonderful. I like beautiful clothes and things. I can't say that I have many friends. I know many people but I am very picky about the friends. Friend is a person who will be with me all my life. And I am lucky to have some really good friends. I am rather independent. And work to be able to pay for the things I want to have in my lfie. In some words I can tell you, that I enjoy the life as it is and I love the life with all its aspects. I am very kind (I am not boasting ) which hurts me often. But I am strong enough to overcome the hardships on my way. Well, now it is up to you to decide to write me or not. I don't konw if you answer me or not but why not to try? I will regret if not to try. I think we should use every chance to find our happiness. Please sent me letter on my e-mail: truegirl08@rambler.ru I shall tell you in more detail about myself and my plans for the future. I still hope for your mail. Have a good day!!!!!!! Sincerely to you Anya

WHY PARIS MEN ARE A VERY DANGEROUS GENRE?? TELL ME...

whoa, move

Che noia!

E' vero è proprio una noia!!!.... Che cosa?

MI SONO SVEGLIATO CON I CAPELLI STORTI!!! VOMITO!!!

We will lead in ending the genocide in Darfur. We will lead by having the highest standards of civil rights and civil liberties and due process. We will close Guantanamo we will practice habeas corpus, because you will have a President who's practiced law and understands the Constitution. Hope is imagining, then fighting for what did not seem possible before. Not to solve our problems easily. Not to think that somehow because we win an election that everything's going to be okay. But we have the chance to join together and work hard on behalf of future generations. There's a moment in the life of every generation where that spirit has to come through. When we can imagine that a better world is possible when we are willing to work for it. Barak Obama

WHY PARISIAN MEN ARE A DANGEROUS GENERE. Well i suppose it depends also on where YOU come from, for if you are french, you are a little messed up as well, therefor, french men are acceptable. (although frequently dissapointing.) I am not french... (ie. LESS fucked up) and my perespective is this. first of all, they "can be" SEXY (in a dirty, undone kind of way) and they do have this ability to seduce. This wouldnt be so bad... (a little dirty now and then is kindof fun,) except that it aways ends up being TOOOO complicate.

1. French men (we could be honest here and simply state "the french") ARE COMPLICATED and never happy. But you cant change that, it is in their culture to be that way. But a whiny man... no a whiny "parisian" is just too much to take. (dont get me started on the women!!)

2. French men are MASOCHISTIC and like to HURT THEMSELVES. (not to mention over and over again) Just think of their daily life as FILM NOIR. They like to create realy complicated stories. I dont mind people enjoying to hurt themselves but eventually is spills over onto you. For example a french man would hide his REAL girlfriend in his REAL apartment, without telling you about it. For him it is a great idea.. and he doesnt want to hurt anyones feelings by telling anyone the truth... (because he is so sensitive of course about how THE OTHERS feel.) But inevidebly it blows up into a huge bloody mess... you are completely heart broken and tramatized. (and he will cry too but i'm telling you, secretly he REALLY loves it!)

3. French men have a DIFFERENT REALITY... and that is simply that what is unacceptable to every one else on the planet regarding relationships, is acceptable to them. So if I were you, I would leave it as a nice frenchie fuck.... but if you try to get into a long love story with them... well there is just too much colatteral damage in the end..... (excuse the spelling, but im not much into being precise in this way) good luck!

ONE last thing!! I DID get my revenge... :)

I've got new socks on...

I love Dave and someday we will be married!!!

Residues Naomi cruises to a high; she valley-girl blankstares me as she fingers strings of pearls and blows white bubbles. Empty gasps become spent space in my fingers. I run over the halls and the decks and the bays her slaves came in; the nitty-gritty is sticky, guilty. Unsatisfied, shame presses down spleen-wards, dripping from my slack jaw, gumming me up. Rishi Dastidar http://beingbeta.blogspot.com

Thanks for your information about french men. WOW!!! VERY VERY DANGEROUS!!! It seems that you know very well french men...

MI PIACCIONO MOLTO I CANI, MA IN GIARDINO. C'E' POCO DA FARE, E' INUTILE CHE MI DICANO :" MA IO LO TENGO BENE, LO PORTO SEMPRE DAL VETERINAIO...ECC" I CANI NON SI POSSONO LAVARE PIU' DI TANTO... PER CUI "PUZZANO". PUZZANO SOPRATTUTTO AI PIEDI,,, SI'. LO SAPEVATE CHE I PIEDI DEI CANI PUZZANO MOLTO?

all i can say about french men, is that once is enough for me.... but i do love paris!

Ciao Al and Rea, Children and blogs were put on earth to absorb any remaining morsels of free time. The instant spare-time erasers. That's why I'm here- to check-out new baby Eliot and blog for a while before I bed down for the night. Which leads me to my question for the day, what is the Italian version of Eliot?- Ron Miriello

Huck was silent for some time, engaged in a mental struggle. Finally he said "Well, I'll go back to the widder for a month and tackle it and see if I can come to stand it, if you'll let me b'long to the gang, Tom." "All right, Huck, it's a whiz! Come along, old chap, and I'll ask the widow to let up on you a little, Huck." "Will you, Tom -- now will you? That's good. If she'll let up on some of the roughest things, I'll smoke private and cuss private, and crowd through or bust. When you going to start the gang and turn robbers?" "Oh, right off. We'll get the boys together and have the initiation to-night, maybe." "Have the which?" "Have the initiation." "What's that?" "It's to swear to stand by one another, and never tell the gang's secrets, even if you're chopped all to flinders, and kill anybody and all his family that hurts one of the gang." "That's gay -- that's mighty gay, Tom, I tell you." "Well, I bet it is. And all that swearing's got to be done at midnight, in the lonesomest, awfulest place you can find -- a ha'nted house is the best, but they're all ripped up now." "Well, midnight's good, anyway, Tom." "Yes, so it is. And you've got to swear on a coffin, and sign it with blood." "Now, that's something like! Why, it's a million times bullier than pirating. I'll stick to the widder till I rot, Tom; and if I git to be a reg'lar ripper of a robber, and everybody talking 'bout it, I reckon she'll be proud she snaked me in out of the wet."

------ is very sick and waits in bed for the sickness to pass. These days are tiresome days. New things bring uncertainty, old things bring insecurity... This big mess dances around ---. Have you ever felt like you are trying to be the strongest person in the world? Have you felt like you are holding up universes and constilations, and in the end, it all keeps crumbling down anyway. Hence, the flu.... waiting for sickness to pass while being showered with stars.

hehe, I think I know who wrote this...

In November 1962, Primo Levi had written: [And] a dream full of horror has still not ceased to visit me, at sometimes frequent, sometimes longer, intervals. It is a dream within a dream, varied in detail, one in substance. I am sitting at a table with my family, or with friends, or at work, or in the green countryside; in short, in a peaceful relaxed environment, apparently without tension or affliction; yet I feel a deep and subtle anguish, the definite sensation of an impending threat. And in fact, as the dream proceeds, slowly and brutally, each time in a different way, everything collapses, and disintegrates around me, the scenery, the walls, the people, while the anguish becomes more intense and more precise. Now everything has changed into chaos; I am alone in the centre of a grey and turbid nothing, and now, I know what this thing means, and I also know that I have always known it; I am in the Lager once more, and nothing is true outside the Lager. All the rest was a brief pause, a deception of the senses, a dream; my family, nature in flower, my home. Now this inner dream, this dream of peace, is over, and in the outer dream, which continues, gelid, a well-known voice resounds: a single word, not imperious, but brief and subdued. It is the dawn command, of Auschwitz, a foreign word, feared and expected: get up, "Wstawàch."

"...The world - whatever we might think when terrified by its vastness and our own impotence, or embittered by its indifference to individual suffering, of people, animals, and perhaps even plants, for why are we so sure that plants feel no pain; whatever we might think of its expanses pierced by the rays of stars surrounded by planets we've just begun to discover, planets already dead? still dead? we just don't know; whatever we might think of this measureless theater to which we've got reserved tickets, but tickets whose lifespan is laughably short, bounded as it is by two arbitrary dates; whatever else we might think of this world - it is astonishing...." Wislawa Szymborska Nobel Lecture, December 7, 1996

BUONA PASQUA A TUTTI!!!

so what exactly is that? That strange link gibberish code stuff... just looking at it freaks me out. When you punch it in on the http (which I must say took me a lot of courage because I thought it would blow up my computer or activate some deadly computer virus..) it comes up other blogs where people only post this stuff. So can someone explain to me what exactly that is? And what exactly is the point posting it? I also want to know where the poet went????

huhuuu. not funny?

oh god, it is there again... the computer gibberish.... im scared..

For the first time since the historic 1960 primary election, the Democratic presidential nomination remains hotly contested as West Virginians prepare to vote. So this state's Democrats and independents may, once again, help decide U.S. history. We hope they support the brilliant, inspiring, eloquent frontrunner in the race, Barack Obama. Sen. Obama is a rare figure in U.S. politics - a deep thinker who rises above partisan sniping and makes statecraft seem noble.

I have checked out this website with Story of Stuff.... what can I say... it is really well done... aside from giving you the feeling that the human race is incredibly fucked up. Sad part of that story, is that at this point, I am not sure HOW things can really change. If I recycle my bottles, does it really make a difference? Based on the scope of this, I think not. It would appear that we need is and entire re-education from childhood.... but perhaps these "other" forces stronger than us, and are destined to bring us (and our earth) to our own extinction?

Grande idea! Complimenti!! Great idea! Congratulations!!

--cosimo--

Some days ago, on the Repubblica online's homepage, I found two titles with the same word inside: "irricevibile", unreceivable in English. The first "unreceivable" was referred to a letter sent from an Italian politician to another one, the second to an economical proposal. I checked "unreceivable" in both Italian and English dictionaries. It doesn't exist. Which makes perfect sense to me. "To receive" a thing is something you can't decide to do or not to do. It just happens. You find a letter in your mailbox. Your ears listen to a proposal. "To receive" is a passive moment. It's life, or someone else, which takes the responsibility to decide for you. It's a surprise which comes before every possibility to choose. And here lays the beauty of it. Later we will decide whether we like or not what we received. I think that we should consider properly the fact of receiving something and always try to enjoy it. Nothing is really "unreceivable". In the end, even the junk mail in our email box deserves to be read. Who knows better than this blog about that? --cosimo--

dance to the music baby!!!!!

I have seen the 90 minute interview with Nicolas Sarkosy... and I have to say I think that he is a great president. He currently has a lot of flagging support in france, and perhaps the french have good reasons for this also...this i am not sure.. despite what he has done to alter the support in his country, I admire his honesty in wanting to talk directly to the French people about it. It is so rare that a president will aknowlage that he has made mistakes, or submit himself to all of the questions of the people. I think it shows true honesty and a man that sees the truel reality. He sees that his people are not happy and he aknowlages their unhappiness in the most direct way possible... i like the guy. I would be happy to have a president like Sarkosy.

I'm pretty sure you're not even that good in bed.

Seriously, what is her problem? It's not like she doesn't know we're dating, but she's all over him anyway. He just likes it that he has all these girls into him. He's such a child. He's so frustrating. He is completely clueless and has had no hardships in his life before. And he could care less about anyone but himself. They're all so completely irresponsible. Why doesn't anyone care to step up and get things done? The least you could of done is given me a hug. God. Get over yourself.

Te echo de menos mucho, chica.

good evening from anchorage in alaska Polar bears join 'threatened' list Designation comes with caveat to protect natural resource development WASHINGTON-- Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne announced Wednesday that the agency will list the polar bear as threatened under the Endangered Species Act, a decision that could cast the bears as the enduring symbol of the effects of global warming. But Kempthorne also warned that the listing "will not stop global climate change or prevent sea ice from melting" and that he will not permit the Endangered Species Act to be used as a tool for changing U.S. policy on global warming or greenhouse gas emissions. He pledged that the listing would not "set backdoor climate policy." "Listing the polar bear as threatened can reduce avoidable losses of polar bears," Kempthorne said. "But it should not open the door to use the ESA to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from automobiles, power plants and other sources. That would be a wholly inappropriate use of the ESA." Kempthorne's decision, forced by federal courts, is his first Endangered Species Act listing since joining President Bush's Cabinet in 2006. Conservation groups first petitioned the agency in 2005 for the designation, the first for an animal that's losing its habitat to climate change. Polar bears use sea ice as a platform to trap their primary prey, seals. As he made his announcement, Kempthorne showed satellite images of the retreating polar ice over an 18-year period and said the government scientists have predicted that global warming will continue to melt the bears' sea ice habitat at an alarming rate. There is no disputing the science behind their findings, Kempthorne said. But in the same breath he called the Endangered Species Act "perhaps the least flexible law Congress has ever enacted." "The right decision, as tough as it was, was to list the bear," he said.

Dear all I'm about to take the stage in St. Paul and announce that we have won the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. It's been a long journey, and we should all pause to thank Hillary Clinton, who made history in this campaign. Our party and our country are better off because of her. I want to make sure you understand what's ahead of us. Earlier tonight, John McCain outlined a vision of America that's very different from ours -- a vision that continues the disastrous policies of George W. Bush. But this is our moment. This is our time. Our time to turn the page on the policies of the past and bring new energy and new ideas to the challenges we face. Our time to offer a new direction for the country we love. It's going to take hard work, but thanks to you and millions of other donors and volunteers, no one has ever been more prepared for such a challenge. Thank you for everything you've done to get us here. Let's keep making history. Barack Obama

GO BARACK GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is creepy. i checked my products at home, and it is in eveything! Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate This inexpensive detergent is commonly used in cosmetic cleansers, hair shampoos, bath and shower gels, bubble baths, etc. - It is probably the most dangerous ingredient used in skin and hair-care products. In the cleaning industry SLS is used in garage floor cleaners, engine degreasers, car-wash soaps, etc. It is very corrosive and readily attacks greasy surfaces. Sodium lauryl sulfate is used throughout the world for clinical testing as a primary skin irritant. Laboratories use it to irritate skin on test animals and humans so that they may then test healing agents to see how effective they are on the irritated skin. A study at the University of Georgia Medical College, indicated that SLS penetrated into the eyes as well as brain, heart, liver, etc., and showed long-term retention in the tissues. The study also indicated that SLS penetrated young children's eyes and prevented them from developing properly and caused cataracts to develop In adults. ick

..........................my computer was playing music on random..... and then came the piano...that song.......... the most delicate keys composing a sound that flew throught the air like birds.................. it was happiness and joy living through piano keys...... and it reminded me of you..... and reminds me that I never understood why things went so wrong... over something so insignifigant... something fabricated by a desperate imagination............you introduced me to that piece..........................i'll never forget as we played it over and over... the sun dissapeared over the roof tops of paris... she went mauve, and how night came..... we giggled like girls, drank bottles of rose champagne.... and watched as night came.... the music played and that joy revertebrated through us............................ and the eiffle tower sparkeld and danced, just as the champagne in our glasses, just as the piano keys flutterd.................. it was such a great moment of happiness, of simplicity... of the excitement that great friendship can have........ but no words from you... since such a long time... from the moment that we both got hurt...... and i wait to hear from you......... eventually.

ITALY GOING NUCLEAR. ITALY'S PREVIOUS STANCE ON NUCLEAR ENERGY WAS ONE OF THE VERY FEW THINGS THAT I ADMIRED ABOUT ITALY. THE RISKS WERE TO BIG IF THIS FORM OF TECHNOLOGY WENT WRONG.... NOT MANY COUNTRIES WERE STRONG ENOUGH TO TAKE SUCH A POSITION .. AND YES ITALIANS PAY MORE FOR ENERGY, BUT THEY COULD FEEL PROUD TO SAY WHY. NOW THEY ARE SCRAMBLING IN THE CRISIS FOR ENERGY AND INSTEAD OF FURTHER DEVELOPING SUSTAINABLE ENERGY (THAT HAS A MUCH BIGGER FUTURE THAT NUCLEAR) THEY GRAB THE QUICKEST FIX.. THE POLITICS IN THIS COUNTRY ARE LIKE A CHICKEN WITH IT'S HEAD CUT OFF.

In Dublin, 111 countries ratified an agreement to ban cluster bombs. Italy was one of them. The treaty is due to be signed in December in Oslo. Cluster bombs are not designed to kill. Their purpose is to mutilate. They are either dispersed over an area following an explosion, or they are more gently delivered to earth by means of a small parachute. They are often brightly coloured, perhaps canary yellow, and are made in beautiful shapes, such as a toy or a tin can. Such items are irresistible to children. The USA, Israel, Russia, China, India and Pakistan have refused to sign the treaty. The United States and Russia are both manufacturers and distributors. First they create and destroy and then, eventually, they rebuild and start selling prosthetic limbs. A business built on childhood amputations. Italy, together with the other signatories, will no longer be allowed to manufacture cluster bombs and will have to destroy all such weapons in its possession within eight years. Italy has also committed itself to helping to clear areas that are littered with these cluster bombs. The American bases in Italy, our country and their home soil, have cluster bombs at their disposal. Extraterritorial bombs. Following the Dublin meeting, our Government should be required to demand that the United States rehabilitate its military bases in Italy. To ratify the moratorium and then allow our Country to be used like an aircraft carrier from which bombers take off, loaded with little explosive gifts for children would be tantamount to taking we Italians for a ride. Let’s rehabilitate the bases. The American population will certainly not be very impressed with Bush’s decision. Let them stand up and be counted. Let them ask their presidential candidates, namely Obama, Clinton and McCain to eliminate cluster bombs from the American arsenal should they be elected.

Ciao

I LOVE YOU LIKE A FAT KID THAT LIKES CAKES

im all for obama... go bama go!

I don't really like college. But going home will never really be the same either. I hate how my pining for familiarity translates into missing my ex-boyfriend.

Tutto è giusto nell'amore e nella guerra what does this translate to in enligh?

?

i found u... and i lost myself ...

we live in the same old world....many people loose money in the stock exchange....and few people make a hudge profit out of it. We wait for the new president in the US but nobody knows who is really going to win and why.....kids are getting sick in china because of poisoning milk and people are getting sick in the west countries because of the fast food....yesterday i even heard in a gala dinner famous women dressed very fancy and with lots of plastic surgery on their body talk about the poor people in world.... but i also heard someone remember them that last night 1 billion people went to bed starving......what the fuck is happening here???????????

OBAMA IS MORE THAN JUST A PRESIDENT, HE IS WHAT AMERICA AND THE WORLD NEED IN GENERAL. STEVE GATANAZI, RWANDA

A breath of hope for America and god bless OBAMA. Let this be a moment where America can change and once again be admired by the world. Congratulations to the people of the united states!

When a real majority of voters show up to the polls and have their voices heard, the rest of the world has the chance to see who Americans really are and what they think. It feels good to have our country back again.

Thank God America got it right this time. The world has hope.

i am relieved nearly to the point of tears. i hope someday we will overcome the terrible legacy of Dubya and the world will forgive us for the last 8 years.I hope Barack will hold Bush, Rove and Cheney accountable for their CRIMES.

A blog (a contraction of the term "Web log") is a Web site, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting), which are part of a wider network of social media. Micro-blogging is another type of blogging, one which consists of blogs with very short posts. As of December 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs.[1] With the advent of video blogging, the word blog has taken on an even looser meaning — that of any bit of media wherein the subject expresses his opinion or simply talks about something.

I AM DRUNK. I AM NOT ALCOHOLOIC. I DO NOT GO TO MEETINGS.

you must be DRUNK because you cant even say the "slogan" properly. I AM A DRUNK, NOT AN ALCOHOLIC....ALCOHOLICS GO TO MEETINGS. now go piss yourself.

its true about facebook! So many people that I am HAPPY to forget want to be my friend again! I just dont have the gutts to say "go to hell" (as they have all inflicted some sort of childhood trauma) and in the end I have a friend list of 300 or more idiots.

thank god for LOVE and all of the generosities she offers us.

WITHOUT PROGRESS LIFE WOULD BE UNBEARABLE. PROGRESS HAS TAKEN THE PLACE OF HEAVEN.

Great information here. I wrote a recent piece on stopping junk mail and the tips you have here are some I will definetly implement. Here's a summary from http://www.savingtoinvest.com/2009/02/junk-mail-revenge.html 1. Mail the junk back. This is becoming my favorite method to get back to these junk mailers - because they bear the costs. If they include a reply paid envelope, I put a"post-it" (those yellow sticky bits of papers for my non-US readers) with a note saying "DO NOT MAIL ME ANYMORE OFFERS". Yes I use capital letters. 2. Call them and tell you to stop sending the junk mail. You don't need a new credit card every week. However finding the right number to call these mass mailer's is much harder than it seems, especially since most companies that do mass mail campaigns outsource this activity. 3. Be careful to whom you give your home address and read the privacy/confidentially policies when signing up for any type of subscription.

Adesso vado in Comune e me ne faccio autorizzare una.

Dopo un anno me ne vado via schifato e mi trasferisco in Olanda.

Ora tocca a voi. Con affetto. Licio

Sovrappensiero...
